Slow Slump

Woke up to 2 page views this morning. Now, it is just after noon and I have 5. Today is going so slow in more ways than one.

I do have some ideas though of what I can do different, to be unique, to stand out. I just hope that they will work. It would be nice to get a new difficult technique under my belt and to do it well. Time to learn. Maybe it will help me out of my Slow Slump. (say that 5 times fast) :)

Red stone search

This morning I had 9 page views and a conversation. Someone wanted to know if I had a black stone necklace in red. So I replied right away and said that I could do it in any color but had to go to my local bead store to find the stone. So this morning I went to craft warehouse and they didn't have one. So the search is still on.

In the meanwhile, I worked on a herringbone bracelet and will post it to etsy this afternoon and work on another in a different color. I am really hoping that they will sell. I will post pics this evening.

Cheers,
Jane

Wipeout

I posted two necklaces and waited for about an hour and got some more hits to my stats page. It is now up to 32 total with 11 shop views and 21 listing views and 5 favorites. Still no sales for a while. I have 122 items listed. I need to add more items quickly.

My 5 year old will be starting school soon and getting work done will be easier. But as for now, I am off to play a little wii wipeout with my little man!

Cheers,
Jane

Positive

This morning I checked my etsy stats (one of the first things that I do in the morning) and had 17 views. Most of them were shop views.  Last night before bed I had posted a link to my blog on facebook to let people know about my blog. So I know that some of those views are from that. It's not normal, yet, to have that many views in the morning.

I am very fortunate to belong to a great group called "Made in Vancouver USA"  The people in this group are really wonderful and supportive.  We are all artisans from this area. I wouldn't be this far without them.

This morning I went to my Weight Watchers meeting and I am down 3 lbs. It was a good meeting. I know that I feel better when my eating is on track and my weight is going in the right direction. I feel better about myself and then that reflects on my attitude, my family and even my work with etsy. I feel positive today. :)

Be positive, patient and persistent.

I will take some pics of some necklaces that I made awhile back and will post them this afternoon.

Cheers,
Jane

Etsy ads

So I posted 1 more item tonight and renewed an old item with new pictures and some updated info. I waited about an hour and then checked my stats again and had 17 page views and 2 favorites. Not quite the 20 that I was hoping for but close.

I also want to put out there that I do have the etsy ads running for me and have from the start. I have mine set for $7 a week at the most. I find that it does seem to help and that my etsy monthly bill is only around $20 that includes all the pics too.

I also have 4 item picked that I use to feature my shop. I read somewhere that this really helps. It keeps your favorite pieces up at the top of your shop.

Cheers,
Jane

Unique

I posted 2 item this morning about an hour apart and my page views are now at 5. Not so good but better than nothing.

I wish that I had someone who could really review my etsy shop and tell me what they think. I mean really review. Good, bad, constructive. I can't get any better if I don't know what others are seeing or not seeing. Do I blend in? Am I like every other shop out there? Do I come across as rude or impersonable? (That might be a good business to start, a review of others etsy shops ...wait, it's probably already established by someone who charges an arm and a leg)

I need to find my niche, that I know. Right now I just have a bunch of feelers out there. (makes me feel like a giant sci fi creature with lots of tentacles out looking for anything that crosses my path.)

I need to be wild, crazy or even stupid and try something that others aren't. What sets me apart from everyone else. That is hard to pinpoint.

I am unique, just like everyone else.

I will post 1 or 2 more items today and see what that does for my views. It is also Saturday which I have no idea if that plays apart in anything. Are more people shopping today or is everyone outside getting some sun?

Cheers,
Jane

Ugg

I woke up this morning with 0 page views and 1 favorite. Not exactly my best. I have had days when I wake up an I've had 2 or 4 page views. Still not my ideal status. I like to try and get 20 views a day at least and most days I don't make it.

A couple of days ago, I had 4 page views for most of the day and then I got a sale. Whoo hoo. That beautiful sound. Chaching! But then for the rest of the day it still said I only had 4 views.

The day before that I had over 22 page views and no sale. So is it better to have only 4 views and a sale or more views and no sale. Seeing that I want people to buy from me but to also get my name and product out there to more people. Ugg.

I am going to post some items now and see how that effects my stats.

Cheers!

A STEP BACKWARDS

A little background
I opened JavaJane Jewelry on etsy on November 14, 2012
I have 117 items for sale
Sold 5 items (one to my mom)
Have 1 feedback (from my mom, sad but true)
95 followers, following 195
40 admirers
19 tweeters following me
134 facebook fans

There is lots of room for improvement here and to tell it honestly... when I first opened my shop I had about 10 items listed and was shocked that nobody was buying from me. (naive, I know) I was like this is great stuff, good prices. I couldn't get anyone to look at it. Where was everyone looking? So I didn't post anymore stuff for a while and didn't do much for about 5 months. Then I started reading the etsy forums and watching the videos and jumped in again with a much clearer head.

There are 5,513,656 Jewelry items on etsy right now.

I was getting about 2 -6 page views a day. Posting one item every day and getting hits only just after posting then nothing else for the rest of the day. This is work, and hard work.

I HAVE A NEED

I have a need. I want to make my etsy site work and to get people to see my creations and buy from me. I have read through the etsy posts and videos and learned lots of things. I look at other etsy shops like mine and see that they are so successful and want to know how they got that way. I find that most times they have been on etsy much longer than me or have better pictures or etc. I want to know how they do it and hear about their struggles so that maybe I won't feel so alone and can follow without feeling creepy.

So since I am relatively new, I decided that I want to help others with what I am going to do with this blog. I am hoping that this blog will help me get noticed too. (Just putting that out there) I also want to help others get noticed and maybe follow along. (Yes, please do) I plan on making my shop work and work well and I have no intention of quitting (Although I have thought about it from time to time). This is my full time job as of now.

This blog is my etsy shop struggle to the TOP starting at the bottom.

Now, my personal idea of success is to be able to sell at least 4-5 items a day. ( I know, wishful thinking) but I have seen other shops doing it. So I have to be listing at least 5 items a day or more. Which then means I have to be producing 5 plus items a day. Ok, work cut out for me.

Goals for this blog
Post my daily stats of my etsy shop www.javajanejewelry.etsy.com
Blog about what I post and when I get the most interaction.
Blogging multiple times a day.
Getting feed back from followers, please feel free to post or comment.
Some personal life stuff to keep the balance of my insanity.
To have fun, get noticed and help others. (what more could anyone ask for?)

Cheers,
Jane Bartlett
